Ranong Street at Night

Bild von rick forgo
I brought 15 rolls of film to Thailand, in addition to my digital SLR. My intention was to shoot the film with a Canonet 35mm rangefinder. After seven frames, the shutter on the camera locked up, and wouldn’t respond to any of my efforts to fix it.
I sent the Canonet home and tried to find a camera to replace it. Most film cameras I found were ridiculously expensive, even many of the plastic bodied run of the mill compacts cost considerably more than they would’ve at home. I ended up buying a 35mm Holga toy camera. This camera was not exactly ideal for my intention of shooting slides (Velvia 100), and street scenes at night (Kodak T-Max 3200), but is a Holga ideal for shooting anything? I did my best to embrace the different shooting style that the camera demanded, and did enjoy firing off a few rolls (though I ended up bringing back more than I shot).
I had these developed and scanned in Bangkok, I’d perhaps like to have them rescanned at some point, but this will work for now.
In the end, these aren’t my best shots, but here they are, in akk their low-fi glory!
